Nipper Moon

I have been painting Nipper's on recycled wooden bowls, platters and blocks. This is one of my favourites I call, "Nipper Moon"

on the boat

Here's a painting of Nipper on the boat done in acrylic on wood. I originally painted it in watercolour which has since sold.
This is a large piece, about 2' by 4'. This was Nipper's first summer at the lake, and he wanted nothing more than to go on the boat.

throw it now!

Here's a piece with a couple of girls and nipper. I was going to paint it, and then decided i liked the energy of the coloured pencil. Whenever we go to the beach, first thing Nipper does is find a stick, then when he gets tired of me throwing it, he finds willing participants by dropping the stick by them, and barking at it.
what a character.

i've got the stick

Here's nipper standing in the water with his stick. He's happiest in the water.

this is an acrylic on panel I painted of Nipper at the beach, heading into the waves to get his stick.

bring back the stick

Here he is coming out of the water with his "prized" stick. LiL Nipper chooses a stick and none other will do for his current session in the lake.

splashing away

here's LiL Nip going after a stick. do you realize a day for a dog is like a week for us? i try to get him down to the beach as often as i can. he just loves it. here he is in acrylic paint on chalkboard. i've been working on "splash" paintings, really enjoy painting the water around him.

throw the stick

Any chance i get i take LiL Nipper to Lakeside Park to swim. I always have to carry him out, he never wants to leave.
Usually there are some kids that interact with him, and this painting came from one morning last week when these 2 girls threw the stick for him many, many times. If you ignore him he barks until you pick up the stick!
Its an acrylic on panel.

Nipper on the river bank

A little acrylic painting of nipper in the river. I left the edges canvas white like I do when I paint in watercolour. I like the effect. And I've always liked his "white side" better.

I created this painting after capturing Nipper on camera in the early morning light. He loves to hunt groundhogs & rodents and appears to be listening for them in this watercolour painting. I painted it at Cafe Tu Tu Tango in Niagara Falls a few years ago. Unfortunately, the Cafe closed down shortly after. It was a great gig to be a Cafe TuTuTango artist in their "feed a starving artist" program. I sold many paintings of Nipper over the 2 years I was involved.
The food was great! the people interesting, and the artwork on the walls inspiring. I sure wish I had another outlet like that.

nipper racin

this watercolour was also painted around a month ago. Nipper loves to race and i've captured him in action doing what he loves best. Do you notice he's smilin'?

aren't I handsome?

I couldn't resist adding this one right away.

I painted it around the same time as nipper at the lake,

He's the smartest dog I have ever had....headstrong, but smart as a whip.

and fast.....he catches more mice than my cat ever will,
Vinnie's a big fat orange tabby, same age as nipper. 9 in August.

I'll try to dig up a painting of him and post it.

Nipper at Lakeside Park

This is my first blog ever!
and i'm starting it with my watercolour painting of my JRT, Nipper.
I painted this last month, from a photo my sister took of Nips down at Lakeside Park - he's a real "sun" dog. Even on really hot days he will find a sunny spot to lay in.
I have been using Nipper as a model since he was a young pup. He'll be 9 this october.

I'll be posting more paintings soon.
